When a place calls to your spirit, you must answer. Folegandros, with its unparalleled beauty and the warm embrace of philoxenia—the welcoming spirit the Greeks are known for—has a way of making everyone feel at home. Tucked in the southern part of the Cyclades, this island remains a hidden gem, untouched and authentic.

Yet, no matter how perfect a Greek island can be, I’ve always missed the game of pickleball and the sense of community it fosters. After spending four summers in this slice of heaven, I felt it was time to give something back—to honor the people, the land, and the humble nature of this place that has captured my heart.

A conversation with the local mayor and school principal sparked an idea: we could repurpose the high school’s tennis court into a pickleball court during our stay. With donated paddles, nets, and private lessons from a professional coach, we’ll not only enjoy the game but leave a lasting gift for the community.
